Air Assault School Phase 2 Practice Test

The correct answer emphasizes that the supported unit is responsible for the storage, inspection, and maintenance of all sling load equipment. This role is integral to ensuring that all equipment used in sling load operations is properly maintained and operational. The supported unit typically includes the personnel directly involved in the execution of missions that require sling loading, so they have a vested interest in making sure the equipment is in optimal condition.

The tasks performed by the supported unit include regular inspections to ensure safety and functionality, as well as maintaining an inventory of sling load equipment. By placing the responsibility for these important tasks on the unit directly involved in the operations, it ensures that those who are deploying the equipment have the best understanding of its condition and availability.

Other units mentioned, such as the operating unit, may have roles in executing tasks but do not encompass the full responsibility for equipment maintenance and inspection like the supported unit. Ultimately, having the supported unit manage these responsibilities fosters accountability and ensures that equipment readiness aligns closely with operational needs.
